Macao International Film and Video Festival (MIFVF)

Movie buffs who want some alternatives to Hollywood flicks will enjoy the annual Macao International Film and Video Festival (MIFVF). Check out the screening schedule from the Macao Cultural Centre website.

Francophone Film Festival

Besides MIFVF, Alliance Française de Macau and Albergue SCM also co-organize a Francophone film festival spanning four weeks. This Wednesday they will screen The Last Escape directed by Luxembourger Léa Pool. The film is in French with Chinese subtitles.

Fists of Gold

Two-time Olympic Gold medallist and three-time World Amateur Champion Zou Shiming will make his professional debut against Mexican Eleazar Valenzuela in front of thousands of screaming fans at Venetian Macau’s 15,000-seat capacity Cotai Arena!

Insight to Self – Portraits of a Chinese

Photographer Ye Jinglu had a photo taken of himself every year from 1907 until he passed away in 1968. Join a journey through time with this precious collection of 62 portraits and reflect on the ephemeral nature of life. Or, if you find the ageing process depressing, why not play out your own version of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and walk through his life in reverse!
