Cantonese Opera Performance 2013
Cantonese Opera performances are held annually to promote this traditional culture and art to the general public. This Saturday, the highlight performance is The Marriage of the Top Scholar, which poignantly recounts the love of the scholar Yu Fengsheng for the courtesan Hua Yanhong.

Cantabile
The Macao Orchestra and Music Director Lü Jia welcome Spanish pianist Iván Martín in his Macao debut. Praised for his dexterity with “the subtle, noble beauty and exquisite tenderness of Chopin’s piano solos”, Martín will tackle Chopin’s brilliant and virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 1, while the Macao Orchestra presents Mozart’s quintessential opera overture and Dvořák’s beloved Symphony No. 7 – a touching and sentimental homage dedicated to his homeland.

‘Horse’ Exhibition of Chinese Painting by Sun Haichen
Chinese artist Sun Haichen has lived and wo
rked in the rolling grasslands of inner Mongolia for more than 30 years, where he has rendered numerous sketches of the small but powerful indigenous horse. In this exhibition, he will display more than 40 of his works for the first time in Macau.

Feast of Na Tcha
The Na Tcha Ancient Temple located on Calcada das Verdades will hold a Prince Na Tcha Parade, starting from the temple and proceeding to Rua de São Domingos, Rua de Cinco de Outubro, Rua dos Mercadores, Senado Square (for 30 minutes) and St. Domingos Square, before returning to the temple. This colorful parade is a fantastically fun way to spend the morning!

The Glorious Era of Julius Caesar – Military Science and Technology in Roman Republic

Hippie – J Lo Solo Exhibition
Japanese calligrapher Inoue Yuichi once described the process of creation as a conflict between oneself and one’s internalized pain. The works displayed here consist of improvisational dots, lines and color. Each brush is drawn in a peaceful state of mind, reflecting the image in his heart onto the surface.

Fantasy World – Chinoiserie
Europe has long held a fascination with Chinese culture, dating back as far as the Ming dynasty when missionaries brought Chinese philosophy, art, religion, science and technology back home with them. Dubbed Chinoiserie, this fashion permeated many facets of European life. This exhibition traces the origins of Chinoiserie and its influence in France with over 80 valuable items including paintings, prints, ceramics and tapestries.
