Gary Chaw “Sensationally” Live Tour Macao 2013 marks the first time Gary and SENSATION have performed together in Macau, promising a newly designed stage and stunning visual effects for their fans.

Macau Chinese Orchestra in Concert
Music lovers have an opportunity this week to hear the Macau Chinese Orchestra Concert for free in a serene outdoor setting. They will perform songs such as “Small Town Story”, “Lover’s” Tear and “Tomorrow Will Be Better”.

Yueju Opera
Yueju Opera (Cantonese Opera) – distinguished by its plain yet bold performing skills including single foot, stopping, moving eyes, somersaulting and trenching – can be traced back over 300 years. Prevalent throughout southern China, Yueju Opera is listed under “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity” by UNESCO. This week, you have a chance to enjoy two performances from Yueju Opera.

Magic of Creation – Costume Exhibition
Macau Fashion Gallery – an exciting focal point for exhibiting fashion designs and serving as an interactive window for fashion art education – is now showing Magic of Creation Costume Exhibition for Original Musical “Myth of Fox” to showcase the successful cultural co-operation between local fashion designers and stage performance artists. Some 16 stage costumes will be shown, featuring the works of director Kenneth Leung and Macau designers Sandy Ho, Carlos Wong, San Lee and Akina Lei.

Film Screening at World Heritage-listed Ho Tung Library
Local film critic Anson Wu has selected two documentaries from the Macau Central Library’s collection for viewing and audience discussion this weekend in the World Heritage-listed Ho Tung Library. The documentaries are Touch the Sound: A Sound Journey with Evelyn Glennie on 7 September and Traveling with Yoshitomo Nara on 8 September.

XXIX Collective Exhibition of Macau Artists
Now in its 29th year, the Collective Exhibition of Macau Artists has been collecting masterpieces of Chinese painting, Western painting and Chinese calligraphy works to and share with the public. From the 265 participating works this year, 54 were selected by the members of the jury for display at the exhibition, which includes 18 Chinese paintings, 19 Western paintings and 17 Chinese calligraphy works.

This year the institution celebrates its 10th anniversary by displaying over 20 works by local artists in a wistful “wishful” exhibition.

Gary Chaw “Sensationally” Live Tour Macao 2013
Gary Chaw formed SENSATION, a new band and music project, in 2011. The band shot to fame in the region after releasing its debut album Project Sensation JAZZ, having performed in Taipei, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and America. This concert marks the first time Gary and SENSATION have performed together in Macau, promising a newly designed stage and stunning visual effects for their fans.

Beauties of Myanmar – Burmese Contemporary Art Exhibition
Three Burmese artists – Saw Kyaw Zaw, Aung Thi Ha and Khine Minn Soe – majored art in Yangon Myanmar and have established a solid position in the industry. In this exhibition they have created the theme of women, showing women in a poetic and elegant posture from Myanmar ethnic life with the perfect matching of color. It also shows different styles of painting and composition effects.

Denis Murrell @ Signum 2013
A strong supporter of local artistic talent, 285 Signum Living Store is currently hosting an exhibition of 14 works by the award-winning Australian painter Denis Murrell, whose paintings are to be found in many private and public collections in Macau and overseas. His works typically evoke a sense of riotous joy via the artist’s hallmark technique of acrylic on tissue paper over canvas, resulting in a very particular textural appearance that has intrigued exhibition-goers for decades.

The Thai Impression – 4 Printmaking Masters’ Works
