“Planète Femmes” International Female Photo Exhibition

Cultural Activities in Coloane Square
A good place to start this month is Eduardo Marques Square in old Coloane Village. Enjoy Saturday afternoon street performances themed around the activities of the “Flash Art Group”, plug into a music performance (10 August and 24 August) catch a magic show (17 August) or go classical with Strings Performances (31 August) – all in the mesmerizing time warp of Macau’s very own Brigadoon.

Exhibition by ChiWan Yu
ChiWan Yu is a local cartoonist and illustrator who regularly observes and comments on society via the medium of local newspapers. This exhibition serves as both a retrospective of ChiWan’s extensive career and the milestone issues that have bubbled to the surface in Macau society over the years, some predictable and others not.

Louis Vuitton Art of Travel Exhibition
Following stops in cities throughout China, the Louis Vuitton Art of Travel Exhibition has finally arrived in the romantic environs of a magnificent indoor tent in Macau, which serves as the showcase setting for Louis Vuitton’s elegant historical background and handcrafted products. A senior packer from Paris provides packing flair, while visitors can also enjoy a hard case personalized hand-painting service, order customized luggage and see an educational documentary by photographer Jean Lariviere.

AliBaBach
This delightful combination of music, theatre and dance brings the little ones to a humorous musical stage where they develop a taste for the most beautiful notes ever composed. Brought by Portuguese musical pioneers Companhia de Música Teatral, AliBaBach is a joyful and imaginative performance without words, especially conceived for babies and children up to five years old. Watching all the action from their parent’s laps on stage, the kids interact closely with the grownups and soon become confident enough to test and discover – touching, giggling and joining performers and becoming part of the play.

Taipa Flea Market
Taipa Flea Market is easily accessible from Taipa High Street and comprises dozens of stalls selling hundreds of fascinating items! From traditional delicacies, period postcards and stamps to lamps, jade pieces, jewellery, coins, toys and collectibles. Visitors regularly flock to the market in the heart of the old village searching for that elusive souvenir and few come away disappointed! Crossroads .Another Dimension
Crossroads .Another Dimension. This Cross-Strait Four-Regions Artistic Exchange Project brings together 16 artists from Shenzhen, Macau, Kaohsiung and Hong Kong in a touring exhibition of the four cities. The theme refers to the constant flow and transfiguration of the existence and creation space of the artists, along with the globalization and the reality of the cross-strait and four regions.

Memories of Rice Paper – A Retrospective of Chui Tak Kei’s Artworks exhibition

The Glorious Era of Julius Caesar – Military Science and Technology in Roman Republic
This exhibition will showcase more than 100 interactive models and replicas of inventions and machines reconstructed by the expert artisans from Florence, Italy, including ancient weaponry, military accessories of the Roman army, ancient construction and surveying tools, maps and daily utensils. Fantasy World – Chinoiserie
Europe has long held a fascination with Chinese culture, dating back as far as the Ming dynasty when missionaries brought Chinese philosophy, art, religion, science and technology back home with them. Dubbed Chinoiserie, this fashion permeated many facets of European life. This exhibition traces the origins of Chinoiserie and its influence in France with over 80 valuable items including paintings, prints, ceramics and tapestries.
