Who’s who in the zoo

Next week, Sydney Harbor will act as the perfect backdrop for two of Asia Pacific’s most important events for the men and women who shape the gaming industry in this part of the world.

From 13 August to 15 August, the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour will host the three-day Australasian Gaming Expo. With more than 180 exhibitors registered, this is where deals are brokered and experts make decisions on what will be offered to consumers in the world of gaming.

Taking place alongside AGE is the Gaming, Racing and Wagering Australia conference which runs from 12 August to 15 August. Experts from around the world will be gathering to discuss the latest gaming developments, from land-based gaming to online and sports betting. There will be a focus on the Australian gaming industries but the Asian Pacific region as a whole will also be widely discussed.

So what does this mean to the average person who likes a bet? Well, the success of events like this show that the industry is alive and well. Events such as these determine what new gaming services are offered to you in the future. It might be a new slot machine, a plush new table or a new sports betting phone app. These are the deals that get done.

This year, participants can expect to learn more about the impact of online, mobile and social gambling and betting. The Asian market will feature strongly and strategies to exploit it will also be emphasized. The word about town is that World Gaming CEO Andrew Scott will be there both as a presenter and as an interested spectator so if you want to discuss the Asian gaming industry generally or our magazine specifically with him, there is no time like the present.

If you are in the industry or interested in what is happening then jump on a plane and make your way to Sydney. You still have time.
