World football: November

This article first appeared in the Nov 2009 (pre-launch) issue of World Gaming magazine.

Every month World Gaming will bring you the best from the football world including comprehensive coverage of the EPL and next year’s World Cup.

English Premier League (EPL)

As November approaches the men are quickly separated from the boys in the English Premier League. The usual suspects of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are again right in the mix fighting it out for the title. This year might be a little different though, with Manchester City looming as a genuine top four contender. The other mid-table clubs will be trying to earn a UEFA Cup berth by scraping into the top six.

Then there is also the inevitable battle for survival which many regard just as exciting as who will win the Championship. The last few months of the year is the most important time for teams trying to avoid relegation. As the season progresses squads with less depth will find the going much harder. How will teams such as Burnley handle the injuries and tiredness of a first campaign in the big time?

Let’s preview four of the big games coming up in the EPL this month.

Chelsea v Manchester United – 8 November. This match will be an absorbing contest between last year’s premiers and the current title favourites. Be sure to tune in; this is one not to miss! Our feeling is that Chelsea will take it out.

Liverpool v Manchester City – 21 November. If Manchester City is to contest for the title, these types of games carry extra significance for The Citizens. Will the perennial under-achievers announce themselves as the real deal? Looks like a draw to us here at World Gaming.

Arsenal v Chelsea – 29 November. Always a cracking contest, these teams hate each other! It will be a fantastic game of football from the first blow of the whistle. We like the Gunners to take it out.

Liverpool v Everton – 29 November. The local derby will see the Toffee’s venture across town to Anfield in a fierce contest on a great day of football. A draw is the most likely result.

Champions League

All of the EPL games promise to be massive fixtures, but it’s not only the Premier League that offers the best in world football. The Champion’s League is in full flight this month with some excellent games for the soccer enthusiast.

  • AC Milan v Real Madrid – 3 November
  • Atletico Madrid v Chelsea – 3 November
  • Liverpool v Lyon – 4 November
  • Barcelona v Inter Milan – 24 November
  • Porto v Chelsea – 25 November

The match between Barcelona and Inter Milan promises to be an epic. The summer has seen arguments rage about who was the winner out of the Ibrahimovic – Eto’o swap. To add even more drama ex-Real Madrid player, Wesley Sneijder, is now also starring for Inter which will further heighten interest for the most hotly anticipated game of the season. The time for debating will be over as two of the best teams in the world take their differences onto the field in a game not to be missed.

Between the Premier League and Champion’s League there is plenty on offer this month for the keen football better. Just make sure you shop around for the best value you can find, whether that is the Asian Handicap markets or head to head. The key thing is getting the best percentage and making that dollar go further.

Good luck and good gaming!
