Preliminary dates for the 2014 World Series of Poker have been released with the globe’s biggest and most prestigious poker festival set to kick off on Tuesday 27 May and run for 49 days before concluding on Monday 14 July.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the WSOP being held at the Rio following its move from Binion’s Horseshoe in 2005, a final and complete list of all events will be released in January with more than 60 events expected to be included.

Among the 2014 highlights will be the US$1,500 buy-in Opening Event which will feature a guaranteed first prize of at least US$1 million and the return of the Big One for ONE DROP – the world’s biggest buy-in poker tournament with an entry fee of US$1 million.

Capped at 56 players, the inaugural Big One for ONE DROP in 2012 (which was capped at 48 players) saw Antonio Esfandiari prevail to claim the biggest single prize in poker history at a staggering US$18.3 million.

The 2014 WSOP Main Event kicks will feature three opening flights with the first to be held on Saturday 5 July.
