An embarrassing case of mistaken identity

Written by Ben Blaschke

The perils of being in a girl group. Recently formed Korean K-pop group Oh My Girl were denied entry into the United States and detained by US Customs at Los Angeles International Airport for 15 hours last week after being mistaken for sex workers!

The eight members of the band were held and questioned by officials who were suspicious of the girls’ wide array of props and clothing, according to a story in the Los Angeles Times.

In fact, the group was there to perform at a promotional event and conduct a photo shoot for an upcoming album cover.

A statement from the group’s record company, WM Entertainment, read, “As young women, they were mistaken as ‘working women’ which has recently been a big issue in the US.”

The girls were eventually forced to abandon their plans and return to Korea.
