Brand new Australasian Poker Challenge to debut at The Star in Sydney

Written by Ben Blaschke

The newest edition to Asia-Pacific’s rapidly evolving poker schedule gets underway next week with the inaugural Australasian Poker Challenge at The Star in Sydney.

The largest repechage event ever held in Australia, the AU$2,200 Main Event will kick off next Thursday 17 March with the first of three opening flights. Players who fail to survive flight one have the opportunity to buy-in again to either one or both of the remaining flights.

The Australasian Poker Challenge replaces the Sydney leg of the now defunct Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) and is part of The Star’s new push to become one of the world’s elite poker venues.

The Star Poker Room recently moved to its long-planned permanent location at the northern end of the property with some impressive new additions to be announced in the coming months.

Side events at the inaugural Australasian Poker Challenge include the AU$1,100 PokerMedia Australia 6-handed event this Sunday 13 March and the AU$5,000 Re-entry event on Wednesday 16 March.
