All of you know the spiritual home of World Gaming is Macau, China. Yes, we are a global magazine that can be found in such far flung places as London, Las Vegas, Toronto, Auckland and Mumbai; but apart from the global lingua franca of English our magazine’s main language is Chinese and there is no doubt whatsoever that Las Vegas passed the title of ‘global epicentre of gaming’ to the Chinese city of Macau quite a few years ago. Macau’s dominance in world gaming is unchallenged and increasing and China rightly deserves its status as the most important nation on the planet to the gaming industry.

But many families have a second ‘holiday home’ a short hop away from their main home. The World Gaming family is no different and our ‘second home’ is most definitely the Philippines. This enigmatic country has had (and continues to have) its fair shares of troubles, but we also feel it’s been unfairly maligned over the years. The Philippines has a lot to offer and can definitely claim to be the second gaming centre of Asia, especially with four more megaresort casinos due to open at PAGCOR city starting next year. The other contender for the ‘number two’ title would of course be Singapore with its two casino behemoths Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands. But Singapore is a country new to casinos without the rich gaming history of the Philippines. We’ll save Singapore for a future issue.

So it is with much pleasure that we present our special Philippines feature issue. The best casino in the Philippines right now is undoubtedly Resorts World Manila, the first international standard casino in the country, and we tell you everything you need to know about this wonderful new property. Our second feature article is about the magnificent beach holiday paradise of Boracay, a place that has consistently appeared on lists of the best beaches of the world for the last four decades. Many claim it to be the best beach in the world bar none, and there’s much talk of a Boracay casino opening soon.

We also give you our assessment of the betting in the upcoming Rugby World Cup, the biggest sporting event to hit New Zealand ever. Our London-based international football expert Leanne Lu tells us about her beloved Liverpool Football Club and its chances in the new EPL season, and of course as usual there’s much, much more…
