The machines are coming! Macau is enjoying rampant and rising demand from mainland visitors, but the number of baccarat and other gaming tables in Macau is capped. As a result, our slot machines, electronic table games and live dealer electronic hybrid games are enjoying meteoric growth, and are set to do so for many years to come. This issue’s cover story, part A of our “Rise of the machines” series, begins our in-depth analysis and discussion of everything you need to know about slots and electronic gaming.

The other big news from WGM is the launch of our WGM Model Search. Over the course of the year we’ll be featuring 18 gorgeous ladies, one of which will eventually be selected as the winner of the model search and become a WGM ambassador in 2014. Turn to page 30 to meet our first three ladies Alicia, Kooky and Kris_Tina.

This year sees the birth of two new regular WGM columns. Each issue “Out and about in Macau” will focus on Macau’s entertainment and social scenes. Check out our very first “Out and about” on page 82. Our other new column is “The Macau Files”, which will profile someone who helps Macau tick. Turn to page 85 to meet Ken Leow, who is featured in our very first “Macau Files”.

As usual we have all the best in gaming, sport, poker and gaming lifestyle. Leanne Lu tells us about Asian players in European football, The Stallion profiles Macau’s Irish Bar, we meet poker legend Wally “The Dream” Sombero, Chris Newbold explains the crisis in international cycling, we profile the Aussie Millions which is being held in Melbourne at the end of January, and have stories on Downtown Las Vegas, the UFC in Macau, the Macau International Marathon and much, much more!

Don’t forget to visit wgm8.com to get your WGM fix while you’re waiting for our Mar/Apr issue to hit the streets. Roll on 2013 – it’s hard to believe this is WGM’s fifth year in Macau!
