Lion Dance masters heading to Macau

Written by Ben Blaschke

If the amazing displays of performers at the MGM Lion Dance Championship in Beijing last weekend was anything to go by, Macau is in for a treat when more than a dozen teams converge in November for the Macau International Invitational 2015.

Now in its fifth year, the MGM Lion Dance Competition visited Beijing for the first time on Sunday where 10 teams from around the world – representing Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau SAR, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – competed for the coveted title of Lion Dance Champions.

Indonesia Kong Ha Hong Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe proved victorious after wowing the audience with their array of spectacular dance moves, with China’s Foshan Nanhai Huangfeihong Zhonglian Cable Lion Dragon and Martial Art Association finishing second and Malaysia’s Kun Seng Keng Dragon and Lion Dance Association third.

The MGM Lion Dance Championship – Macau International Invitational 2015 will be held on 14 and 15 November in the MGM Macau Grand Praça.
