The South Korean city of Daegu will play host to a leg of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) for the very first time this weekend where four-time APT Player of the Year Sam Razavi will be gunning for a record fifth consecutive POTY crown.

Located at the Hotel Inter-Burgo Casino in South Korea’s fourth largest city, APT Daegu will boast a full schedule of 17 events over nine days with the Main Event kicking off this Saturday 26 March.

But the focus will be on the battle between Razavi and Japan’s Iori Yogo in the race to be crowned 2016 POTY. Razavi only narrowly pipped Yogo last season to claim his fourth POTY title and heads to South Korea trailing his rival in the standings.

Razavi has been a dominant force on the Asian poker scene in recent years with an incredible record of 20 tournament wins from 90 in-the-money finishes including one win from 13 cashes in 2016.

However, Yogo has proved a more effective finisher in 2016 with three wins from five cashes to find himself on track for a first POTY title.

Aside from a shiny new trophy, the POTY receives US$10,000 worth of APT tournament entries for the following season.
