Singapore’s Yah Loon wins APT Manila title

Written by Ben Blaschke

Singapore’s Yah Loon has been crowned APT Manila champion after outlasting a large field of 341 players at Resorts World Manila.

Usually a cash game player, Loon took down his first major title after a long and drawn out final table that saw his tight, patient style prove the perfect tonic against the aggression of Vietnam’s Le Ngoc Khanh, Filipino player Jun Javalera and China’s Weiyi Zhang.

Asked about his victory, Loon said, “This is the biggest field I’ve played. “I just played my game the way I would play in cash games. Because they see I am tight, I bluffed several times and stole some pots.”

The Singaporean took home PHP3,503,600 (HK$589,330) for his win.
