WGM’s Best Weekend Bets: Fri 20 to Sun 22 May 2016

Written by Ben Blaschke

The French Open kicks off on Sunday and we’re going to jump in early to pick our winner on the Men’s side of the draw with nine-time champion Rafael Nadal looking great value at $4.50. The major stumbling block for Nadal remains Novak Djokovic, who has had Nadal’s measure in recent times with seven straight wins including three in a row on clay. But Djokovic has never won at Roland Garros and is coming off a loss to Andy Murray in last week’s Italian Open final. Nadal looks a great chance to make it 10 French Open titles.

Saturday sees Manchester United looking to take something from another disappointing season when they face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final. We’re predicting a low scoring game across the 90 minutes given United’s recent record which has seen eight of their last 10 matches produce two goals or less and five of those decided by a 1-0 scoreline.

Sunday brings a mouth-watering Game 3 clash in the NBA’s Western Conference Playoffs as the Oklahoma City Thunder host the Golden State Warriors with the series tied 1-1. The Thunder showed just how dangerous they can be with a shock away win the series opener before Steph Curry found his magic in Game 2 to ease the pressure – but back on home soil we’re expecting Thunder duo Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook to bring their A-game. Expect plenty of points here.
