Rising star Alex Lynskey has confirmed his standing as one of poker’s best young talents by taking out the inaugural Australasian Poker Challenge at The Star in Sydney.

Lynskey completed a brilliant week in which he also won the Opening event for AU$39,000 just days earlier and reached the final table of the AU$5k Challenge to top a field of 444 players in the prestigious repechage event and bank another AU$212,112.

The Australian youngster has enjoyed a remarkable start to 2016, reaching the final table of the Aussie Millions Main Event in February for a career-high score of AU$445,000.

The Australasian Poker Challenge is the newest major poker event in Asia-Pacific, having replaced the Sydney leg of the now defunct ANZPT. It also looks like it is here to stay with the maiden event attracting some of the world’s finest players including former WPT Five Diamond champion and renowned poker coach Andrew Lichtenberger, Germany guns Max Lehmanski and Kilian Kramer plus WSOP bracelet winners Jeff Lisandro, Andrew Hinrichsen, AJ Antonios, Jarred Graham, Rory Young, Gary Benson and Sam Higgs.
