Good Food Guide: Café Deco

Written by The Panda

Located at the Venetian Macau, Café Deco is a huge café and restaurant offering the passing throngs what they want, when they want it. Open 24 hours and with capacity for as many as 2,500 people, it boasts a menu to match with everything from sandwiches, soups and salads to Indian, Asian and Italian dishes plus plenty in between. But is it any good? WGM recently found itself at Café Deco twice in one day for two vastly contrasting experiences.

The first was particularly disappointing. Having met a friend for nothing more than a cup of coffee, we were ushered to a seat but somehow managed to make it through an entire 40-minute conversation without a single waiter or waitress remembering to come over and take our order. So no coffee for us!

Returning for a lunch meeting a few hours later, the staffing problems had been amended somewhat and our group of eight were all served and fed in less than half an hour. The food is what you’d expect from a café of this ilk – decent without being great. It’s hard to fault the variety on offer, but that earlier experience isn’t going to have us heading back anytime soon.
