Good Food Guide: Chong Iun Noodle

Written by The Panda

When I feel like a late snack in Macau, nine times out of 10 I choose noodles. Chong Iun Noodle near Lou Lim Ieoc Garden has been open for decades and is an old haunt of mine. The shop is renowned for its wontons and dumplings. The wonton skins are very thin and don’t get hard even when they cool down.

As for the filling, the shop owner uses tasty prawn and pork that is neither too fat, nor too lean. You can still chew the slippery prawn and it doesn’t feel greasy. For those who like their food to be more refreshing, the dumplings are a must.

The filling is delicious with black fungus added to it. The noodles and soup are also worthy of praise. Although the noodles are not homemade, they have perfected the cooking time to achieve the perfect texture.

The soup has a strong fishvbone and prawn flavor and the vegetables boiled in this soup are very tasty. You may wish to try some! They also provide uncooked wontons and dumplings you can take home to cook for yourself!
